About our Troop

Boy Scouts of America - Troop 401 - Steubenville, Ohio

Our Troop is based in Steubenville, Ohio within the Ohio River Valley Council of Wheeling, WV. We have been in existence since 1992. Originally chartered under the Knights of Columbus from Franciscan University of Steubenville, we are now chartered with Holy Family Catholic Church in Steubenville.

The Troop Committee plays an active role in developing the Troop outing content and schedule in conjunction with the junior leaders (scouts) of the troop. Additionally, it sets Troop policy where and when needed for the smooth functioning of the Troop.

We generally try to participate in one outing per month and meet at least three times a month during the normal program year (September thru June). In July, the Troop participates in the Council Summer Camp at Fort Steuben Scout Reservation.

Currently, the Troop has over 30 registered scouts with four patrols. The Senior Patrol Leader runs the Troop.

The troop is boy run in accordance with the vision set forth by scouting's founder Lord Baden-Powell. The scouts plan all Troop meetings and outings.
