Diocese of Steubenville Decree on Child Protection
Boy Scouts of America - Troop 401 - Steubenville, Ohio
Because Troop 401 is chartered by Holy Family Catholic Church in the Diocese of Steubenville, it must abide by the Diocese "Decree on Child Protection", latest edition, in addition to the normal youth protection requirements of Boy Scout of America.Here is an outline of the requirements.
Adult Leaders Registered with Boy Scouts of America
Must complete the following prior to contact with the Troop 401 youth.....
Read and understand the "Decree on Child Protection", latest edition
Read and sign the document "Applicant's Certification" (submit signed document to Scoutmaster)
Read and sign the document "Code of Conduct" (submit signed document to Scoutmaster)
View the Diocese Video "Decree on Child Protection - A Summary Presentation" (Download Flash File)
Shall be fingerprinted and submit to a background check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation
Contact the Diocese Chancery Office to arrange an appointment - 740-282-3631
Note - A fee of $22 will be charged by the Diocese for the background check which will be reimbursed by the Troop if the results come back favorable.
ANY ADULT who plans to spend an overnight with the Troop
Must complete the following prior to the overnight event with Troop 401.....

Read and sign the document "Code of Conduct" (submit signed document to Scoutmaster)
